These easy cheesy ham sliders on soft Hawaiian rolls are perfect for parties and quick get-togethers, featuring a buttery, tangy sauce and a blend of Swiss and cheddar cheeses.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (12 rolls) soft Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 pound sliced deli ham or leftover ham steak, thinly sliced
  • 6 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced
  • 6 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Optional: thinly sliced pickles
  • Optional: fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping them attached as a whole block.
  3. Layer the bottom half of the rolls evenly with the ham slices.
  4. Add the cheese slices on top of the ham, alternating Swiss and cheddar.
  5. Place the top half of the rolls back on and press gently to compact slightly.
  6. Whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, and garlic powder in a bowl.
  7. Pour the sauce evenly over the top of the rolls, making sure it seeps down the sides.
  8. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  9. Bake for 15 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for another 5 minutes until the top is golden and cheese is bubbling.
  10. Let the sliders cool for 5 minutes before slicing into individual portions.

Notes

For a crispier top, broil the sliders for 1-2 minutes at the end of baking, watching carefully to avoid burning. Use a serrated knife for cleaner cuts. Leftovers reheat best covered in a 300°F oven for 10-15 minutes. Variations include swapping ham for turkey or roast beef, using different cheeses, or making vegetarian with grilled veggies and pesto.
