  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place your cast iron skillet inside to warm up while you prep the bread.
  2. Slice the baguette diagonally about 1-inch apart, then turn and slice again to create a crosshatch pattern without cutting all the way through.
  3. In a bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Gently pull apart each cut section and spread the garlic butter inside every crevice. Stuff shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese into all the nooks and crannies.
  5. Transfer the bread to the hot skillet carefully so it sits evenly.
  6. Bake uncovered for 15–18 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly and bread edges are golden and crispy. For extra crispiness, broil for 1–2 minutes watching closely.
  7. While baking, warm the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over low heat with olive oil, oregano, and red pepper flakes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Serve immediately with warm marinara for dipping or drizzling.

Preheat the skillet to ensure a crispy bottom crust. Score the bread deeply but not all the way through for the best pull-apart effect. Use fresh garlic for best flavor.
