A quick and easy homemade shamrock shake made with fresh mint, creamy dairy, and mini chocolate chips for a refreshing and indulgent treat without artificial flavors or colors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup packed fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cup whole milk (240 ml)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (240 ml)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50 g)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon mint extract (optional)
  • 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips (55 g)
  • 1 cup ice cubes (about 150 g)
  • A few drops green food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the fresh mint leaves thoroughly and pat dry. Measure about 1/2 cup packed leaves.
  2. In a blender, combine fresh mint leaves, whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and mint extract if using. Add ice cubes.
  3. Blend on high for 45 seconds to 1 minute until smooth and creamy with no visible mint chunks. Stop and scrape down sides if needed.
  4. If desired, add a couple of drops of green food coloring and pulse just until combined.
  5. Pour the blended shake into a mixing bowl and gently fold in the mini chocolate chips with a spatula.
  6. Serve immediately in tall glasses. Optionally top with freshly whipped cream and garnish with a sprig of mint or extra chocolate chips.

Notes

If the shake is too thick, add a splash of milk and blend again briefly. If too thin, add more ice cubes and pulse to thicken. Fresh mint is preferred over dried or syrup for best flavor. Fold in chocolate chips after blending to keep texture intact. Chill glasses before serving for best experience. For dairy-free version, substitute milk and cream with coconut or almond milk and use dairy-free whipped topping.
