A simple and refreshing frozen cocktail combining frozen strawberries, fresh basil, tequila, and lime juice for a perfect summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (150g) frozen strawberries
  • 68 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 ounces (60ml) tequila blanco
  • 1 ounce (30ml) fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) simple syrup or agave syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Measure 1 cup (150g) of frozen strawberries and set aside.
  2. Rinse 6-8 fresh basil leaves gently and chiffonade by rolling and slicing thinly to release aroma.
  3. Squeeze 1 ounce (30ml) of fresh lime juice using a citrus juicer and strain to remove seeds and pulp.
  4. Combine frozen strawberries, chopped basil, tequila blanco, and lime juice in the blender.
  5. Add simple syrup or agave syrup if desired for sweetness.
  6. Pulse blend on high for 30-45 seconds until thick and slushy but pourable. Adjust thickness by adding water, lime juice, or ice cubes as needed.
  7. Taste and adjust sweetness or basil intensity by adding more syrup or frozen strawberries/ice and blending again.
  8. Serve immediately in chilled margarita glasses, garnished with a fresh basil leaf or strawberry slice.

Notes

Use frozen strawberries for best texture and flavor concentration. Chiffonade basil gently to avoid bitterness. Pulse blend rather than pureeing to preserve fresh basil aroma. Chill glasses before serving for best icy texture. Adjust sweetness with simple syrup or agave syrup to taste. For a lighter cocktail, substitute half the tequila with sparkling water after blending. For a non-alcoholic version, replace tequila with lime soda or sparkling water and add extra sweetener.
