These crispy wonton cups filled with creamy cheese, smoky bacon, and spicy jalapeños make a quick, easy, and crowd-pleasing appetizer perfect for any gathering.

  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 medium jalapeño peppers, finely diced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Green onions, thinly sliced (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook 6 slices of bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Transfer to paper towels and crumble once cooled. Save some bacon grease if desired.
  3. Remove stems from jalapeños, slice in half, and finely chop. Remove seeds and membranes for less heat.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, shredded sharp cheddar, crumbled bacon, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until evenly blended and creamy.
  5. Lightly spray a 24-cup muffin tin with non-stick spray. Press one wonton wrapper into each cup, gently pushing down to form a cup shape without tearing.
  6. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the cheese mixture into each wonton cup, spreading evenly but leaving a little room at the top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until the wonton edges are golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  8. Remove from oven, sprinkle with sliced green onions for garnish, and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

If wonton cups aren’t crisping enough, pre-bake empty wrappers for 4-5 minutes before filling. Keep an eye on jalapeño seeds to control heat. Use room temperature cream cheese for smooth filling. Don’t overfill cups to avoid sogginess. Refrigerate assembled cups for a few hours before baking if making ahead, adding a couple of extra minutes to bake time. Freeze cooked cups in a single layer and reheat in oven for 10-12 minutes.
