These crispy garlic butter breadsticks are golden, buttery, and infused with fresh rosemary and sea salt, perfect for any occasion and easy to make in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 Β½ cups all-purpose flour (440 g)
  • 2 ΒΌ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 ΒΌ cups warm water (300 ml, around 110Β°F / 43Β°C)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (85 g)
  • 3 fresh garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp coarse sea salt

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until bubbly and foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until dough starts to come together.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic, or knead with a stand mixer dough hook on medium speed for 6–7 minutes.
  4. Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough inside, turning once to coat. Cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and roll it into a 12×15 inch rectangle. Cut into 12 equal strips about 1 inch wide.
  6. Prepare the garlic butter by mixing melted butter, minced garlic, and chopped rosemary.
  7. Place breadstick strips on a parchment-lined baking sheet, brush generously with garlic butter, and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  8. Cover loosely and let rise for another 20–30 minutes until puffy.
  9. Preheat oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Bake breadsticks for 15–18 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Brush breadsticks again with remaining garlic butter right after baking. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Use fresh garlic for best flavor. You can swap rosemary for thyme or oregano. For dairy-free, replace butter with plant-based alternative. Baking at 400Β°F and brushing with garlic butter twice ensures extra crispiness. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days and reheat in oven to maintain crispiness.
