  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream or Greek yogurt, plain
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (chives, parsley, or dill), finely chopped
  • Β½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ΒΌ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it at room temperature for about 30 minutes or microwaving for 10-15 seconds carefully.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with sour cream or Greek yogurt. Mix with a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes until silky and lump-free.
  3. Add garlic powder, onion powder, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper. Mix for another minute.
  4. Fold in the finely chopped fresh herbs with a spatula, reserving some for garnish if desired.
  5. Optionally, drizzle in olive oil and/or honey or maple syrup and mix lightly.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld and texture firm up.
  8. Serve chilled or at room temperature on crackers, veggies, bread, or as a dip or sandwich spread. Garnish with reserved herbs.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese for smooth texture. Fresh herbs are preferred over dried for best flavor. Adjust seasoning after chilling as flavors mellow. Optional olive oil and honey add silkiness and sweetness. For vegan version, substitute vegan cream cheese and coconut yogurt.
