This creamy, cheesy broccoli and cheese casserole is the ultimate comfort food, perfect for family dinners, potlucks, or cozy weekends.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh broccoli, chopped into bite-sized florets
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (Panko recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease your 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the chopped broccoli florets and cook for 2-3 minutes until they’re bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, melted butter, milk, beaten egg, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Stir in 1 ½ cups of the shredded cheddar cheese, mixing well to combine. Save the remaining ½ cup for the topping.
  5. Add the cooked broccoli to the bowl and gently fold it into the cheese mixture, ensuring each piece is coated evenly.
  6. Transfer the mixture to your greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  7. In a small bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with 2 tablespoons of melted butter. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the top of the casserole.
  8. Finish with the remaining ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese, sprinkling it over the breadcrumbs for a golden, cheesy topping.
  9. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbling.
  10. Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
